First day of school 2014

Wanted to memorialized Lauren's first day of school in the 2014-2015 school year.  She is back at Buffum.  We are lucky that she got to stay with her teacher, Mrs. Mantel.  Her best friends, Govani and Mauricio are still there too!  It helped that the school had a welcome back day before the first day and Lauren got to see her best friend Govani!

She was pretty confident leaving the house and pretty proud of the new backpack she picked out.  A blue green dog.  Blue and green are her favorite colors.

The official first day she was late as there was a mix-up with the school bus and we ended up taking her.   She was a bit apprehensive going being in the class but once she saw her buddies she adjusted just fine.

A blue green birthday! (#4)

A bit late, but we wanted to memorialized our girl turning 4 years old in September.   True to herself, she wanted a blue green Super Why party.  So of course a blue green party she got!  She loves the cartoon Super Why and her favorite character is Super Whyatt.  (We think its because he is a boy and he is blue/green)

Tante Cin made her a cake and blue green cupcakes!

Fun pinata time and jumper for all the cousins (even the big ones!).  And good thing Kevin came to break the pinata.

Turning four we have seen such growth in Lauren.  Her favorite toys right now are monster trucks and legos.  She has also started pretend play.  Thanks to her tias, she is busy taking our orders and cooking pretend meals for us.  Blue and green are her favorite colors.   I tried to get her a pink outfit to wear like princess pea in the Super Why cartoon.  Her response?  "Mama I like blue green.  You like pink and purple!"  We love that she sticks to her convictions and is confident about her choices.  Happy birthday to our blue green  super girl!

Lessons in sharing

During our SF trip, Lauren learned was exposed a lot to the concept of sharing.  Here is a classic example of what happens when they both wanted to play with the big guitar.

Kirra not happy that Lauren has the guitar.
Lauren definitely not happy that Kirra has the guitar!
Adult mediation needed!
"Let's hug and be friends again."
With prompting and encouragement, both girls learned how much more fun it is to share and play together.
Two cute bunnies
Bunny hug!

SF.....trip 2

For spring break we decided to drive to San Francisco and see how Lauren would do in a long car trip.  She did great considering the long time she had to be in her seat.  Although somehow she has learned the phrase "my back hurts" and was saying that in the long stretches of the drive.  We're not quite sure if her back really hurts or if she is just mimicking what she hears us say.

One of the days we were there, we went to the ferry building.  Lauren, loves, loves, loves mushrooms.  So she was very impressed with the mushroom store in the ferry building.  She said, "Look at all the mushrooms!"  then proceeded to examine them all.

Then we decided to take the ferry over to Sausalito since the weather was so gorgeous that day.  Lauren loved the boat ride and loved the ice cream treat even better.

It was nice for Lauren to spend time with her cousins since we only see Kirra and Liam a few times a year.

We also took Lauren to the SF Zoo via public transporation.  Lauren loved the Muni train and bus.

Saying "hi Muni Train" for each train that went by.

Thanks for hosting us tante Joanie and oom Colin!
