And she discovers a faucet!

A few days of warm weather gave us a glimpse of what the summer days may hold.

Lauren definitely loves water.  She is now even protesting when its time to get out of the bath.

And because she learns best by watching, it was game over once she figured out that Bali can drink out of the outside faucet.

So glad that she is feeling better.  Her fever lasted five days on and off.  Finally we had to give her antibiotics to help her fight it.  She was a trooper through it all.  Unfortunately she lost the weight we worked hard for her to gain at Christmas time.  Oh well!  At least she loved strawberry pedialyte and drank her medicine like a champ!

Temperatures

We are commemorating the record breaking cold weather here in Southern California with Lauren's first sick days.  She was fine all weekend but woke up Monday morning with a runny nose and a bit cranky.  Which is not like her as she usually wakes up happy and chatty. (Chatty = jabbering away in her own made-up language)  Sure enough by the afternoon daycare called and said that she was not herself and is starting a fever and needs to be picked up.  By late afternoon the fever had reached 102.9 degrees.  So we started her on a rotation of Tylenol and Motrin and cool baths.  Due to her small size, we have to be careful with the medication as she is still on the light side of the weight requirements.  Poor baby has had no energy or appetite and has been laying in bed watching YouTube videos of nursery rhymes.

First taste of ice cream

Not quite sure if she liked it.  Actually she spit it out.  Just wait little girl, one day you are gonna beg us for more!

Using utensils

Still working on this skill, but she's finally getting it.  Although sometimes she still picks up the food with her fingers, and places it on the spoon.  I guess whatever works!  And since she thinks she can do it on her own, she will protest if I try to feed her.  Imagine loud shrieks!

Happy 2 months home!

Today marks two months home for Lauren.  She has increased in confidence by leaps and bounds.  Here are some of the highlights:
  • She will now wave "hi" when asked or when she sees other kids
  • She will wave "bye-bye" and blow you a kiss (if she likes you)
  • Once dressed in the morning she will wave "bye-bye" as she loves to be outside
  • Will now get into the stroller (YEA!)
  • Has mastered finger food eating and is starting to learn to eat with a spoon. (messy,  but she tries hard).  Loves to share her food with Bali.  (not good!)
  • Loves baths.  Will make the splashing motion at night with her hands when she wants a bath.
  • Loves the park and is fearless with climbing.  Loves, loves, loves to run.
  • Still loves musical toys.  Constantly needs to have some kind of music playing.  Enchanted with Elmo.
  • Babbling more, but still not talking.  (We're still working on this one)
And finally for those asking for a new video, here she is at the park on new year day.  She may look big, but she is still wearing 18 months clothes.

Happy 2 months home baby girl!

Her first Christmas - 2012

Here are some of the other pictures to commemorate Lauren's first Christmas home.  She did not really understand at what was happening.  But she did understand that she is not to touch the Christmas tree.  Being a two year old, she would get real close to the tree, stick her hand out as to touch it, but then turn her head to look at me and shake her head to say, "no-no".  (Yep, still not talking!)  And she did get to meet and spend time with her cousins.  We look forward to them all growing up together.

Christmas Eve we decided that we needed her to open some presents to "practice".  She still didn't get it and was quite content in playing with the one piece of torn wrapping paper.  We are also going to remember this Christmas as the drooling Christmas.  Lauren seems to be getting new teeth and the drool was out of control all through Christmas.  In fact you can see in a lot of the pictures her tongue sticking out.

Christmas Day we spent at my brothers in Aliso Viejo.  This was Lauren's first big party.  There were 38 of us immediate family only.  LOL!  That is considered small in our family.  She did great and mingled some after some time.

There were gifts galore even though we limited the gift buying only to kids.

And the paparazzi was out in full force to capture pictures of her!

Her favorite Christmas gift was a toy dog that barked and jumped around in circles.  After this gift was opened, no other gift was paid attention to.  In fact, she received a decorate yourself toothbrush from her dental hygienist auntie Cintya. She looked at it and threw it aside, only to pick up her doggie again.

And finally the traditional family picture.  This year made more difficult with the addition of four (yes, 4!) new babies to the Pranata family.  And one more if you include baby Sophia.  (Due to various nap times, not all babies are in pictures)

And finally, no family gathering is complete without singing.  Here we are singing to entertain the kids!

We hope you all had a Merry Christmas.  And if you've been good all year, we hope that Santa brought you what you wanted.  We must've been good, because our gift of Lauren is the best gift ever!  Merry Christmas 2012!
