A glimpse of the future

Here's a sample of Lauren's made up language.  She so thinks she is understandable and will get frustrated when she is talking up a storm and we don't respond the way she wants us to.  (Yes, strong willed!)  This morning's conversation is about her wanting to take her toy dog (her favorite) to daycare.

I can only imagine what it would sound like if she used actual words!

P.S. Yes we did leave the puppy at home.

First time at the beach

Lauren experienced her first beach trip today.  The water is still a bit too chilly to get in, but we thought we would still just take her to see what her reaction would be.

And finally here's videos of her first time getting close to the water.

Mexican Chinese

I think someone likes her limes....

By the way she also loves spanish rice and refried beans.

4 months home

Lauren has been home for four months.  It seems like she has been here forever!  We have to keep reminding ourselves that she has only been home for four months.  Here are the highlights:
  • No longer cries at daycare drop-off.  YEA!
  • Has given up the pack-n-play and now sleeps in her room in the crib for nap time
  • Has learned to jump and loves throwing the ball outside
  • Started speech therapy and is starting to say a few words
  • Can hum the melody of her favorite songs
  • Knows which shoes she likes to wear and which shoes she does not like to wear
  • Will wave "bye-bye" and then stand by the door when she wants to go outside
  • Can climb up and go down the slide by herself
  • Loves the taste of toothpaste which means teeth brushing is only half the battle that it used to be.  The battle is about her wanting to do it all by herself with no assistance from us
  • Picks up her toys at the end of the night or when asked to "clean-up"
  • Loves to cuddle under a blanket

Here are the vocabulary words she knows:
  • da da da/daye = daddy
  • na na na = banana
  • no = no  (she now gets credit at speech for pronouncing it correctly)
  • nak = snack
  • shees = shoes
  • hai = hi
She is starting to get frustrated not being able to communicate with us.  At the recommendation of her speech therapist we are increasing the use of sign language to help her communicate.  (and maybe say "mama"?)

Happy four months home baby girl!
